Eastchase - Fort Worth Public Market is reputed as being a well known farmer’s market in the heart of Fort Worth, as it is a historic element of the city. The building also holds many retail shops. Originally, this building had been the innovative design effort of B. Gaylord Noftsger, who was not a native of Fort Worth at all. He rather was from the region of Oklahoma City. It is noted that John J. Harden, who was a developer, designated one hundred and fifty thousand dollars for the construction of the building. This man was also from Oklahoma City.
Officially, Eastchase - Fort Worth Public Market welcomed the public to enter its doors back in the year of 1930. That was a grand time for the city and brought much excitement indeed. It was mentioned in the local paper and at various times the whole front page of the paper was designated to the East-Chase Fort Worth Public Market.
The roof is constructed of terracotta tile of many diverse colors. Moreover, the primary tower of the building is adorned with pilasters and columns that are also made of terracotta. This building has been used to provide space to a wide assortment of business endeavors, which took into inclusion butchers, bakers as well as grocers. At the height of its success, the building offered space for one hundred and forty-five stalls for vendors and farmers as well as thirty permanent spaces for retail entities.
It is interesting to realize that back in the year of d1980, the building was designated as being a Texas Historic Landmark. Moreover, it was then included in the National Register of Historic Places four years later. Many people have always enjoyed shopping here and the place was always well maintained. Many citizens of Fort Worth are proud of the heritage that this building has brought to the city.
